Last night while talking a teacher friend through a difficult professional experience I was reminded of a post by Dr. Neil Gupta, “How Do You Feel?” In it he speaks about the importance of asking how we want employees to feel and the importance of ensuring employees feel safe, value, and secured.

I don’t think we can ask that question enough. Educational leaders can’t ask themselves “how will this make teachers, students, parents feel?” enough. It needs to be considered strategically, as every school-based decision is made.

If we want our students to learn how to be empathetic or have perspective we have to model in ourselves as educational leaders as well.
