It’s been a long day. But, I got a ton accomplished. Now that I finally have a moment to sit at the end of the day, I am reminiscing about my first evening in Germany and our TOP Study Tour visit to Krenzers Apple Wine Press.
We had the most wonderful tour of the apple wine press given by a delightful Krenzers employee, Florian.
We were running on empty, towards our 36th hour of being awake after our flight to Germany. But, Florian kept us thoroughly entertained. My dad worked for Anheuser-Busch. I grew up bringing hops in to show-and-tell so I was especially fascinated with Krenzer’s method of winemaking. You can watch a video of the process here.
Of course, we had plenty of samples and were even able to check out the sherry made at the Krenzers.
Krenzers is not only an apple wine press, it is also a hotel, offering traditional hotel digs and camping sites. You can even spend the night as a Rhönschäfer, a shepherd, sleeping in shepard’s cars. Think tiny house minus electricity.
The apple wine press was a charming way to begin our tour of Germany.
But, right about now I am wishing I had splurged on a bottle wine from Krenzers. Guess I need to go back to the Rhon!
