I didn’t do a good job of keeping up with blog posts while I was in Washington, D.C. for a conference last week so I have been trying to do double posts for the last week to make up for it and stay on schedule with my #BLOG365 buddies. Writing twice a day is hard! Finding inspiration for 2 posts a day is difficult.
I am thinking of all the things we ask our students to do each day. I am stuck and feeling frustrated that I have double the work to do this week on my blog. I can’t even imagine what it must be like for a student who is behind or one that struggles when they are working to catch up. I have the capacity to self-regulate and monitor myself. I know when to take a step back and avoid being overwhelmed. I am confident enough in myself to only do the best I can do. Our students are not.
So, I am having this moment of clarity for myself. I am realizing I have imposed a timeline on myself when it comes to blogging. If I catch up on that timeline or not doesn’t really matter as long as I get it done.
I wish more teachers viewed instruction from this lens. I wish we did more to equip our students with the tools to be more self-aware and to prioritize.
