I have been updating my resume lately. Experience, certifications, training, education.

But, I have come upon a problem of sorts.

The education I really want to include, the “institution” that taught me most is not an accredited institution of higher learning.

I’d like to list the University of Kids.

After all, its where I learned the most. It’s the place of my continuing education. There are no grades or G.P.A.’s for me. No application essays or minimum SAT scores. No dean’s list. No course descriptions.

The courses are full of hands-on, minds-on learning. Final papers are unit plans. Assessments are generated in a joint effort between student and teacher. There are read-alouds instead of lectures.

I’m wondering what would happen if I included the University of Kids on my resume.
